Outlook exchange not auto updating
You can try forcing ipv4 (or ipv6) to see if the problem occurs more on one than the other. If connectivity is lost between outlook and exchange, this happens.

When this happens trying doing control right-click on the Outlook icon in the system tray and selecting "Connection Status..", then in the window that opens, click on "Reconnect".
If that restore the connecting, then my theory might be correct.
For example, hitting Reconnect shows everything reconnect but Outlook still shows "sending message" and the systray icon has the hourglass on it and mousing over shows the message "Microsoft Outlook is requesting data from the server".I checked on it about an hour later, all test workstations were showing ~4% PL on all 3 ping destinations, so I sat and watched. The route in Ping Plotter is showing Firewall GW Out To The Internet for about 15-25 seconds and then recover. Log in to the firewall (Juniper SRX210) and the uptime for the VPN is 1 minute. Our Network Engineers swore the connection was stable. Every 20-25 minutes the VPN would flap, PL to the DC (of course), Outlook would barf up a bunch of Event ID 19 and 26, and we'd eventually get email stuck in the Outbox. If your clients are using ipv6, be aware that some firewalls may require additional configuration for ipv6 rules.

My guess is that you probably have a firewall appliance that is filtering traffic.
