Rowupdating event in gridview not firing
“Select” – Raises the Selected Index Changing and Selected Index Changed events. “Update” – Raises the Row Updating and Row Updated events.
I'm writing a custom control that will automatically wrap controls in an Update Panel dynamically at run-time. // You can try Auto Generating the select and delete buttons to see the grid exhibit different behaviour // too.
I have tried to add an event handler to the Row Updated event of my custom control but it is not called.
I have tried to override On Row Updated in my custom control, but the breakpoint never gets hit.
The simplest solutions for this error is : Just change the “Command Name” property of the “Edit” button from “Edit” to “Edit Row”(or something else which is relevent to you but make sure it is not “Edit”). After scratching my head for sometime I found that the words like “Edit” are reserved to invoke some built in functionality of the Grid View.
In my custom grid View control I cannot raise the Row Updated event. Then in the code behind I have handled the On Row Command event. In the event handler function I have checked for the Command Name property and write necessary code for each of the actions. I've written a quick tutorial on my blog: am having somewhat of a challenge though. Can anyone offer help, or have you seen the problem yourself? The comments are in there to illustrate the problems I'm having. Drop a Grid View on the page, set the Auto Generate Edit button to true and paste the rest of the code here over the contets of the cs code-beside page.
When I take a standard Grid View, bind it to a Data Table and dynamically wrap it in an Update Panel at run-time, the Row Updating event stops firing my handler.
I came across a very interesting error while using buttons/link buttons in the Grid View for editing the Grid View rows data.
